Playground Rules
PLAY STRUCTURE
One student at a time on the slides and ladders & monkey bars.
Students can only go in one direction on the monkey bars and rock walls.
Stay safe by: walking only, keeping feet down, only going down slides, and allowing others to pass.
Examples
Playing floor is lava
Keeping your feet towards the ground
Going down the slide
Non-Examples
Playing tag on the structure
Running in the bark
Blocking other students from entering/exiting the play area
Hanging upside down
SWINGS
Be courteous to other students waiting in line for the swings.
Examples
Swinging for a couple of minutes so that others can have a turn
Non-Examples
Jump from the swings
Walk in front of or behind someone who is swinging
Standing on the swings
BLACKTOP
Playground equipment is used as intended and put back on the cart at the end of recess.
Students stay in the areas they are supposed to be.
Examples
Playing basketball on the court and putting the ball back on the cart when done.
Hanging up the jump ropes.
Non-Examples
Climbing on the posts
Playing in the bark area
TRACK & FIELD
Stay in the intended area.
Play with equipment already on the field.
Use the equipment as intended.
Examples
Play on ½ of the field closest to the playground unless walking the track
Only walking on the track
Non-Examples
Hanging on the soccer goals
Bringing your snack to the field
Going by the steps to the middle school
GYMNASIUM
Respect the cleanliness of the gym (shoes, food/drinks, trash).
Examples
Playing basketball, volleyball or line tag
Sitting in the bleachers and playing on the court

Eating in the gym
Kicking a ball in the gym
Hitting a ball against the wall
ALWAYS RULES
Use school issued equipment only
Keep food and drink in eating area
Students should ALWAYS be in an area where they can see the yard duty
Examples
Keeping leftover food in food location
Telling the yard duty if you have to get something out of sight

Going behind the shed
Playing in the bike rack area
